A rigid mica sheet is also called a mica plate or a mica board. It’s made of 90% mica paper bonded with 10% high-temperature silicone resin, heated and pressed to a rigid sheet thickness ranging from 0.1mm to 100mm; the most popular thickness is 0.3~1.5mm.
A rigid mica sheet is a high-mechanical-strength material. Its resistance Voltage is 16kV/mm. Muscovite mica sheet resists 500~700℃, and Phlogopite mica resists 750~850℃.
The grey colour is Muscovite Rigid Mica Sheet, the Phlogopite Rigid Mica Sheet is light brown and light green, and the white is Synthetic Rigid Mica Sheet. They are widely used as high-temperature electrical insulation materials.
HighMica is a specialised manufacturer and supplier of industrial mica insulation materials. The rigid mica sheets can meet the production needs of high-temperature and high-voltage insulation materials. If you need to request a quote, please click the link below.
Rigid Mica Sheet Application
What are the mica sheets used for? Mica sheets of different thicknesses can be poached and processed into insulation parts. A thickness lower than 2.0mm can be punched into a different shape of mica gasket. A thickness of more than 2.0mm will process mica parts and process methods such as sawing, drilling, grinding, laser, and waterjet cutting.
- The processed mica gasket or mica parts are used as supporting insulation for heating elements in electric toasters, hair dryers, irons, curlers, electric hot combs, strip heaters, baseboard heaters, gaskets, and other appliances and applications where excellent resistance to moisture and thermal, mechanical, and good electrical properties are required.
- The mica boards have excellent mechanical strength. They can be used as insulation components for high-temperature and high-voltage equipment.
- Excellent insulation fabricated parts for heating elements, cards, washers, barriers, or covers, such as a hair dryer, heating wire holder, etc.
- Widely used in heating household appliances, equipment, furnaces, motor insulation, transformers, power generation and distribution, electric/hybrid vehicles, etc.
- The 3D-shaped mica protection cover is available once it is formed by the mold tool.
Properties
- Excellent thermal resistance, muscovite mica resists 500~700℃, Phlogopite mica resists 750~850℃, Synthetic/Muscovite Calcined mica resists more than 1000℃.
- Excellent electric insulation; usually, the breakdown voltage is more than 16kV/mm.
- The mica sheets have a tight structure with no bubbles or holes. They have high flexural strength to punch and a smooth cut edge.
- Excellent mechanical strength. Double heating pressing time ensures exceptionally high density for over-thick mica board; it’s suited for sawing, drilling, grinding, laser, and waterjet cutting methods.
- Mica sheet is distributed evenly, with no impurity, and the color and luster are beautiful.
- A one-time 3D shape formed by a mold tool is available.
- Eco-friendly and non-asbestos.
The mica sheet is CERTIFIED by UL(E248686) and conforms with IEC371-3-3.
